Karson Duncanson came back to his home farm in 2006 by creating a custom finishing hog enterprise, and formed a cash crop partnership with his brother, Kameron, in 2017.

“Once I got away from the farm and moved to the city, I found I wanted to get back. I hope the younger generation doesn’t take for granted the opportunities that small town rural America present,” Duncanson says.

Karson and his wife, Amber, reside in Mapleton with their children, Halie (5) and Keegan (1).

Duncanson finds value in the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association (MSGA) by networking at events like MN AG EXPO, and through MSGA’s lobbying efforts in St. Paul and Washington D.C.

“MSGA does a lot of behind the scenes work on our behalf on legislative issues we don’t even realize are happening,” he says.

Duncanson appreciates what the previous generation at MSGA has done for farming.

“It is our job, as the next generation, to keep organizations the previous generations have built for us alive,” Duncanson says. “We often take for granted that we just get to farm, but the work was laid out ahead of time for us. It’s our turn to step up and be the next generation in these farm organizations.”

The Minnesota Soybean Growers Association is the nation’s largest soybean association because farmers and agribusinesses have recognized the value MSGA membership brings. ‘Faces of MSGA’ recognizes those members who actively promote Minnesota’s soybean industry.
