Lowanda Frank finds the work the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association does standing up for farmers at a state and national level as one of the primary reasons why she invests in MSGA.

Frank serves on the Renville County Board and credits MSGA Director Doug Toreen for getting her involved.

“Doug asked me to help with our plot day, and before I knew it, I was sitting in the fair booth connecting at a local level with our area farmers,” Frank says.

Lowanda and her husband, Dale, farm soybeans, corn, peas, sweetcorn and sugar beets. Their two children, Ashley, who is in a ninth grade, and Kyle, who is in seventh grade, also help on the farm.

“MN AG EXPO is one of my favorite MSGA events,” Frank says. “It’s fun meeting farmers from across the state and listening to their needs and issues.”

Frank reminds growers that their membership fee is a small price to pay for all soybean farmers get in return for the hard work that is done at the Capitol.

“The dollars go a long way for the good of all producers, whether it’s ensuring the biodiesel mandate happens to the buffer strip issue,” she says. “They are fighting our challenges and championing our successes here and in D.C.”

The Minnesota Soybean Growers Association is the nation’s largest soybean association because farmers and agribusinesses have recognized the value MSGA membership brings. ‘Faces of MSGA’ recognizes those members who actively promote Minnesota’s soybean industry.
