If you can bet on anything at the 2025 MN Ag Expo, place your highest bid on hearing from a top-notch speaker who knows a thing or two about auction prices. 

Greg Peterson, better known as “Machinery Pete,” will take the stage Jan. 23, 2025, at 12 p.m. as a keynote speaker of MN Ag Expo. Held at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center in Mankato, Minn., MN Ag Expois the annual trade show and conference hosted by the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association (MSGA) and the Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA). 

With his database totaling nearly 500,000 auction sale prices on roughly 70 categories of equipment, Peterson’s vast understanding of farm auctions comes at a time when farmers are making strategic buying decisions, including not buying at all. A seasoned expert in the industry – Peterson has been researching and analyzing machinery auction prices since 1989 – Machinery Pete will help farmers strategize and get the most bang for their buck. 

“We’re so excited to have ‘Machinery Pete’ with us this year at the Ag Expo,” said Darin Johnson, MSGA president. “It will be great to hear Pete’s perspective on machinery cost and values, given the state of the ag economy.”

Peterson is the second keynote speaker to join the MN Ag Expo roster. Previously announced keynote speaker, Rob Sharkey, also known as The Shark Farmer, will share the triumphs and struggles of the modern farmer on Jan. 22, 2025 at 5 p.m. Sharkey created one of agriculture’s most successful media companies, including nine seasons and counting of SharkFarmer TV.
