MN Farmers Bring Concerns to Capitol Hill

The American Soybean Association (ASA) held its summer board meeting in conjunction with national Hill visits July 11-13 in Washington D.C. Each day led up to soybean farmers from across the country being able to meet with their state legislators to discuss pertinent issues affecting soybean farmers.

“Being able to visit with our legislators allows us to have an opportunity to meet face-to-face,” said Minnesota Soybean Growers Association (MSGA) President Theresia Gillie. “We are able to ask where they stand on specific issues, allow them to ask questions and ultimately, be a resource for them.”

Gillie was one of the 10 Minnesota soybean farmers to attend the ASA board meeting and Hill visits. Others who attended included ASA representatives George Goblish, Joel Schreurs, Bill Gordon, Lawrence Sukalski and Lance Peterson. Others in attendance were MSGA Vice President Mike Petefish, MSGA Secretary Dana Blume, along with ASA DuPont Young Leader participants Rodd and Jamie Beyer.

The farmers met with all 10 of the congressmen and senators from Minnesota.
