March 16, 2017 / Categories: Uncategorized

Farmers, farm organizations, agribusinesses and volunteers have joined together to organize and host the sixth annual “Farm Camp Minnesota” for youth. This event is open to youth entering grades 3-6.  This year, the one-day camp will be held four days at three different locations.

This year’s dates and locations include:

  • Aug. 7 – Farmamerica, Waseca, Minn.
  • Aug. 8 – Farmamerica, Waseca, Minn.
  • Aug. 15 – Schmitt Family Farm, Rice, Minn.
  • Aug. 16 – Wolf Creek Dairy, Dundas, Minn.

The camp will be held from 9-3 p.m. each day.

The event will allow campers the opportunity to learn about modern agriculture, where their food comes from, how it is grown and how farm products are used in our daily life. Each camper will have the opportunity to learn about various types of livestock and crop farms, including pork, beef, dairy, turkey, corn and soybeans. They will also learn about the equipment used for farming.

Preregistration is required. Early bird registration is $15 per camper if registered by June 10, or $25 after the date. Registration includes lunch, snacks, t-shirt and a take home bag.

For more information or to register, visit the Farm Camp Minnesota website or e-mail Farmcampmn@outlook.com.
