As the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council gears up for summer roundtable discussions between farmers, industry and researchers, a second Grower Input Survey is being unveiled to gain valuable insight prior to the regional meetings.  

MSR&PC is encouraging the state’s nearly 28,000 soybean growers to participate in a second survey to help gather input on three specific topics.

The first survey was held last winter and yielded 140 participants. The primary purpose of the second survey is to collect data on where farmers find their information, collect valuable insight on priority production areas in terms of checkoff funding, and identify emerging agronomic and production issues across the state. 

“The more participants we can have in these surveys, the better we can address these priority topics,” Minnesota Soybean Director of Research David Kee said. “These responses, along with the data collected from the first survey, will be utilized as we prepare for our regional roundtable discussions later this summer.”

The second Grower Input Survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. The deadline to participate in the survey is July 16, and all answers are kept confidential. Each farmer who completes the entire survey will be eligible to win a $300 gift card. Each year, the Council invests soybean checkoff resources into research projects.

This spring, the Council approved 16 production research and technology transfer projects from many of the region’s most prominent ag researchers. The projects delve into pest and weed management, soil health and breeding and genetics issues.
