The 2015 Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council elections, conducted by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA), are inching closer. And while candidates are sought for five Council positions, MSR&PC Vice Chairman and Chair of the Election Committee wants every farmer to be involved through the voting process.
“If you want to have a voice in where your checkoff money is invested, and you don’t have the time to be a director, the next best thing you can do is make sure you vote for someone in your district who represents your soybean farming interests,” Schrader said.
Any person who owns or operates a soybean producing enterprise and shares in the profits and risk during the current or preceding marketing year is eligible to vote. Each producer unit is entitled to one vote. A voter must meet Minnesota’s general election voting age requirements.
The MDA will issue ballots to producers who have voted in the past. If a producer wishes to vote but has never voted before, an MSR&PC ballot request form must be filled out.
