Parsley joins other tri-state farmers in Thailand for USSEC events
Drew Parsley, Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council (MSR&PC) director and farmer from Warroad, Minn., was chosen to represent Minnesota soybean farmers at the 10th Annual Asia Grain Transportation Conference from March 7-9 and the 11th Annual United Soybean Export Council (USSEC) S.E. Asia Soy Symposium on March 9th, both in Phuket, Thailand.
The Asia Grain Transportation Conference focused on topics including U.S. Grain Transportation, Global Agri and Food Trends, Hedging Fundamentals and Ocean Freight Markets and Opportunities.
The Soy Symposium, which directly followed the transportation conference, allowed international experts and regional key stakeholders to learn the latest on the global soy trade, sustainable supply and market utilization’s relevant to the S.E. Asia food market.
“The demand for non-GMOs in S.E. Asia has spiked considerably,” Parsley said. “Many countries, even those considered developing with limited assets, are demanding non-GMO due to consumer fears. The number one interest was non-GMO imports for food products, like soy milk. Like all buyers, they are looking for a consistent product and good value from the U.S.”
MSR&PC, along with the South Dakota Soybean Association, North Dakota Soybean Council and Kentucky Soybean Board sponsored the Soy Symposium.
