UMN launches “Essential Row Crop Management for Summer 2020” webinar series

University of Minnesota Extension and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach are collaborating to provide another series of short, timely, and topic-specific webinars for farmers, ag professionals, Extension personnel and other interested parties for two weeks in July.  The “Essential Row Crop Management for Summer 2020” series will focus on current pest management topics for late summer.  Webinars will be held from 1- 1:30 p.m. on July 14, 16, 21 and 23. 

The webinars are free and open to all thanks to generous sponsorship from the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council, Minnesota Corn Growers Association, Iowa Soybean Association, and the Iowa Corn Growers Association.  Each 30 minute webinar will start with a 10 to 15 min presentation followed by time for questions and answers.  Topics and presenters are listed below.

  • July 14, 1 p.m. Tar spot: Identification and in-season management with ISU Extension Plant Pathologist Alison Robertson and UMN Extension Plant Pathologist Dean Malvick
  • July 16, 1 p.m. Soybean aphid IPM with Erin Hodgson, ISU Extension entomologist, and UMN Extension Soybean Entomologist Bob Kock
  • July 21, 1 p.m. Corn rootworm management with UMN Extension Entomologist Ken Ostile
  • July 23, 1 p.m. Soybean gall midge update with Extension Crop Protection Justin McMechan and cropping systems specialist, University of Nebraska- Lincoln
