Swing into summer with the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association by supporting farmers and a biodiesel industry that keeps Minnesota atop the leaderboard.

MSGA invites growers and industry partners to secure a tee time for the annual Biodiesel Open Aug. 24 at the Crow River Golf Club in Hutchinson. The annual golf event is a part of MSGA’s year-round advocacy efforts in St. Paul and Washington, D.C.

Attending and/or sponsoring Biodiesel Open gives back to farmers and the communities around Minnesota: Funds from the event help fuel MSGA efforts to engage with lawmakers, regulatory agencies and stakeholders on behalf of soybean farmers.

“The Biodiesel Open is always a date that I circle on my calendar, because not only is it a chance to have a fun day outside with my fellow farmers and industry partners, it’s an opportunity to remember how far we’ve come to grow Minnesota’s biodiesel industry from the ground up,” said MSGA President Ryan Mackenthun. “Minnesota has a unique place in our nation’s renewable fuels movement, and events like this help us reflect on those achievements while also helping to fund future efforts in promoting biodiesel at the state and national levels.

MSGA President Ryan Mackenthun (second to right) plans to join industry peers at the 2026 Biodiesel Open to support MSGA’s policy efforts.

MSGA’s leadership across more than two decades led to Minnesota becoming the first state to adopt B20 (20% biodiesel) in the summer months. Today, biodiesel brings over 5,000 full-time jobs to the state. In total, the biodiesel industry has a $1.7 billion economic impact on Minnesota’s GDP with $676 million in farm-level impact. For farmers, biodiesel is estimated to add more than $1 to every bushel of soybeans and increase demand by 13%.

MSGA is a proactive voice for Minnesota soybean farmers and helps ensure that farm-friendly policies are helping improve on-farm profitability and economies across Greater Minnesota. The nonpartisan organization represents nearly 26,000 soybean farmers with a 40-person board of grower leaders representing counties across the state. In addition to prioritizing biodiesel, the board is also focused on other initiatives such as:
