Listen to a country music song and odds are that you’ll hear about the freedom of driving down a gravel road. But you probably won’t hear about the layer of dust that covers everything in their vicinity. Luckily, there are environmentally friendly products available to control dust, like BioBlend DSO. On July 14, the city of Rothsay applied this product to a high traffic gravel road on the north side of town.
BioBlend DSO is a biodegradable self-emulsifying product that is blended with water and sprayed onto dusty areas to help control dust without the use of non-biodegradable components. The product is free from any heavy metals that might cause adverse environmental impact and is classified as an Environmentally Acceptable Lubricant according to the EPA’s guidelines.
“We think it’s really important to replace chlorides or anything that can be corrosive and toxic,” said Steve King, executive vice president of BioBlend Renewable Resources. “We want to do anything we can do to create a renewable product and soy is our go to product.”
The Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council invests checkoff dollars to advocate for soy-based products like BioBlend and will continue to work to spread awareness of the myriad benefits of soy-based products. Next time you drive down a gravel road going 20 miles per hour because you just went through the car wash, think about BioBlend DSO and soybean checkoff dollars that are invested in products that make a difference.
