MSGA Leadership Opportunities
MSGA Leadership Opportunities
Change begins at the grassroots level, and MSGA state directors play an integral role in our advocacy efforts by guiding MSGA’s efforts through the resolution process. For more than 40 years, MSGA has supported emerging leaders in our state through our one-of-a-kind county soybean program. Representing their respective county boards, state directors start their leadership journey by joining their county soybean board before getting elected as the county’s MSGA director.

Leadership at its Best Program
Sponsored by Syngenta and the American Soybean Association (ASA), Leadership At Its Best provides participants with advanced leadership training and the necessary communication skills to make a difference in American agriculture while advancing into leadership positions on a national level. This results in the creation of a highly effective collective voice in Washington, D.C., serving the interests of soybeans and U.S. agriculture.
Soybean Leadership Academy
Soybean Leadership Academy aims to strengthen the soybean industry through joint training sessions that provide opportunities for interaction and building relationships. The program features enhanced collaboration between state affiliates and national soybean organizations and interaction among senior soybean leadership and newer board members, creating strong peer and networking opportunities.
Young Leader Program
Founded in 1984, the ASA Corteva Agriscience’s Young Leader Program is ASA’s longest-running leadership program, enhancing skills through leadership, communications and issues-based training. The program identifies and trains new, innovative and engaged growers to serve as the voice of the American farmer.
Numerous MSGA directors and officers have grown their leadership skills through the Young Leader Program. Learn more about how – and when – to apply to become a future Young Leader by clicking here. You can also read about Minnesota’s Young Leader Adventures here.
Ag Voices of the Future Program
Ag Voices of the Future is designed to expose young people with a farming connection to education on major policy issues and advocacy, encouraging participants to consider careers within agriculture associations and industry, as well as government regulatory and legislative positions.
