While MSGA represents the interests of the state’s more than 25,000 soybean farmers, fewer than 10% of growers remain active members. MSGA advocates throughout the year in St. Paul, helping to promote and defend policies that improve farmer profitability. Despite being outnumbered by lobbying groups with competing interests, MSGA members enjoy a huge return on their investment. Because of MSGA’s leadership, Minnesota remains a biodiesel leader, helping to add at least $1 in value to the price of soybeans. For two years, MSGA worked diligently for tax relief for Minnesota farmers, and helped secure Section 179 tax conformity and led the way in raising the ag homestead credit.
