Ag Outlooks Meetings Provide Starting Point for Marketing Plans

With winter finally settling in, what better way to stay inside and warm than to attend the 12th annual Linder Farm Network Agricultural Outlook Meetings, held throughout Minnesota this January.

The Outlook Meetings, which begin Jan. 12 in Alexandria, feature some of the top experts in the country and will focus on management and marketing strategies for the coming year.

The Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council invests checkoff money into the meeting each year to help provide soybean farmers with timely information as they look to the 2015 growing season.

Craig Bangasser, chair of the education action team, said the Outlook Meetings fall at a good time of year because many farmers have wrapped up year-end bookkeeping and other management duties and are looking ahead to the new year.

“The Linder Outlook meetings are well attended meetings with a day’s worth of information,” he said. “The biggest thing, as you’re done with the day there and you’ve listened to everybody, you have a starting point as you look forward because you have some marketing advise, and you have a better outlook on the world view. As an accumulative day of information, it’s hard to beat.”

The Linder Farm Network 2015 Ag Outlook Meetings will have four speakers split between a morning session and an afternoon session.

Dr. Dennis Todey, South Dakota State University, Climatologist and Professor of Meteorology, will discuss the 2015 weather outlook and world weather trends and Market Analysis Al Kluis will cover what’s ahead for commodity prices, and how farmers can react to a changing market in the morning.

Chuck Wingert, Wingert Realty & Land Services Inc., Mankato, Minn., will cover land values and trends” and International Ag Consultant John Baize will delve into the outlook for U.S. agriculture in 2015, with a focus on how world events are shaping what we grow and how we grow our bottom lines to close out the afternoon session.

The cost is $35 per person. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the forums start at 9 a.m. The programs runs until 2:30 p.m. Coffee and rolls and a noon lunch are provided.
