Faces of MSGA: Krista Willis

When Krista Willis transitioned from the corporate world three years ago to farm full-time with her husband, Chad, and father, having a voice in St. Paul and Washington D.C. was extremely important to her.

“The Minnesota Soybean Growers does an excellent job at giving us a voice in policy both in Minnesota and federally,” Willis says. “Not only do they keep me updated on the information I need to know on an issue, but they work to combine our voice with other farm organizations so our needs are heard as farmers.”

Willis, who farms soybeans and corn near Willmar, Minn., explains that advocating for agriculture is an important piece of her farm story.

“Joining a farm organization who supports farmers in their advocacy journey and telling their farm story is important so we can tell our story whenever and to whomever we need to.”

Willis has found one of her passions in telling her story is supporting the success of biodiesel in Minnesota.

“We are big supporters of biofuels, both biodiesel and ethanol,” Willis says. “And we have done a great job of pushing legislation forward that benefits not only us as farmers, but those who want to breathe clean air.”

The Minnesota Soybean Growers Association is the nation’s largest soybean association because farmers and agribusinesses have recognized the value MSGA membership brings. ‘Faces of MSGA’ recognizes those members who actively promote Minnesota’s soybean industry.
