Faces of MSGA: Bruce Schmoll

September 25, 2018 / Categories: Uncategorized

After nearly a decade, Bruce Schmoll stepped down as a director of the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association. But his investment in MSGA remains strong.

“I have plenty to do. I’ll keep busy,” says Schmoll, who serves on the U.S. Meat Export Federation board through November. “I will still try to do as much as I can to encourage membership in MSGA.”

Schmoll served as MSGA President from 2012 to 2013, and encouraged fellow Dodge County farmer Michael Petefish to serve on the MSGA board. Schmoll says he’s proud his protege is now serving his second term as MSGA president.

“I’m proud of Mike and how much he’s put into being a spokesperson and advocate for MSGA. I think it speaks highly for the farmer leaders that we have from this part of Minnesota.”

Schmoll grows corn, soybeans and grapes with his wife, Tarrie, on their family farm in Claremont, Minn.

In today’s tumultuous agricultural economic climate, Schmoll believes it’s imperative MSGA continue its status as the nation’s largest soybean membership organization.

“It’s as important now as it’s ever been to have conversations with legislators,” Schmoll says. “For me, it’s a no brainer to join MSGA.”

The Minnesota Soybean Growers Association is the nation’s largest soybean association because farmers and agribusinesses have recognized the value MSGA membership brings. ‘Faces of MSGA’ recognizes those members who actively promote Minnesota’s soybean industry.
