MDA to host webinar on the ABCs of small meat plant processing options in Minnesota

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is hosting a one-hour webinar to answer your questions about expanding local meat and poultry processing markets in Minnesota and discuss how we can adapt Minnesota’s meat and poultry supply chain in response to the current pandemic. Topics of discussion will include the MDA’s inspection requirements, grant opportunities, and marketing assistance programs.

Who should attend?

Minnesota livestock and poultry producers and processors, retailers/restaurants/re-sellers, and anyone interested in contributing to Minnesota’s meat and poultry supply chain innovation.

How is it structured?

The webinar will be a presentation that includes questions and answers from the audience.

The MDA’s meat processing inspection team will provide information for producers experiencing disruptions in their current markets, and guidance for small/local processors interested in entering or expanding their services and markets. The webinar will include information about custom and State inspected “equal to” (E2) processing, including provisional E2 status. The MDA’s grant specialists will describe grant opportunities available to Minnesota livestock producers and processors.
