Outdoor ag show to take place Aug. 2-4

With 2016 being a legislative year, along with looking toward B20, new markets and research on new varieties, the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association (MSGA) and the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council (MSR&PC) are focusing on ‘Using Your Bean’ at this year’s Farmfest.

Meet the candidates

As both the House and Senate are up for election this year, many legislators will be stopping by booth 618. MSGA has a large exhibit area that will feature an area for candidates to speak with farmers about agricultural issues. Time slots will be made available for candidates to address those in attendance and interact with farmers.

Ed Usset presentation, checkoff investments

MSR&PC is sponsoring University of Minnesota Grain Marketing Specialist Ed Usset in the Wick building on August 4 at 9 a.m. Usset will present his tips on developing a post-harvest marketing plan. The first 500 visitors to the Wick building between 8-9 a.m., will also receive a free sample of cinnamon mini-donuts prepared in high oleic soybean cooking oil.

Booth 618 is also an opportunity to learn more about how your checkoff dollars are being put to use to develop new uses, new markets and new varieties of soybeans. There will also be a chance to win one of four $500 of biodiesel, courtesy of Farmfest, Agricultural Utilization Research Institute (AURI) and MSR&PC.
