It’s not every day a young Minnesota farmer gets the opportunity to share the story of agriculture to an international audience, but this is exactly what Oliver Trebesch, son of Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council (MSR&PC) Chair Cole Trebesch, did in early October.

“I was nervous at first, but it got better as the day went on,” Oliver says. “I really enjoyed being outside and showing all of the machinery and being in the field.”

Sparked by the many issues affecting the soybean industry worldwide, SamSam, a Dutch children’s magazine, wanted to create a video focusing on soybean production in the U.S. Classrooms throughout the Netherlands will use this video to help students learn about soybean production and U.S. agriculture.

“It was fun to see what they were looking for and to be given the opportunity to teach others about agriculture, specifically soybean farming,” Cole says. “It was not only a great experience for Oliver but a unique platform for Minnesota soybean farmers to share their story with a youth audience we normally may not reach.”
